September 12, 2023 – 8 Dorado, 2 Skipjack
35′ Riviera Blue Water | Captain Oscar | 8 Hours Fished
Returning guest Robert came back to Cabo from the Fort Worth, Texas area for another trip with Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours, this time bringing two additional guests aboard the 35′ Riviera Blue Water. Their eight-hour charter with Captain Oscar included the dredge, lunch for three and Corona Light, and the fishing delivered a high-volume result: eight dorado and two skipjack.
Ten fish for three anglers made this one of those September mornings when the action justified using every hour available.

Repeat Guest Chooses a Cabo Charter Fishing Day
Repeat customers are especially meaningful.
Robert already knew the Blue Sky Cabo experience and chose to fish with us again.
That familiarity also meant the day could focus immediately on the fishing. Captain Oscar departed F Dock at 6:00 AM and put the 35′ Riviera into an offshore program built around finding active pelagic fish.
The dredge was part of the presentation.
With eight hours available, Blue Water could continue searching and working productive areas rather than facing an early turnaround.
Trip highlights:
- Eight dorado caught and kept.
- Two skipjack caught and released.
- Ten total fish for three guests.
- Robert returned as a repeat Blue Sky Cabo guest.
Eight Dorado Dominate the Cabo Sportfishing Catch
Dorado clearly controlled the day’s action.
One dorado can create excitement around the cockpit. Eight can create a completely different pace.
Multiple hookups require the crew to manage lines, clear the spread, position anglers and maintain control around the stern. Dorado can accelerate quickly, cross lines and jump repeatedly during the fight.
Captain Oscar and the Blue Water crew converted the opportunities into eight landed dorado.
The fish were kept.
For three anglers, that created substantial rod time and a strong fish-per-guest result.
Skipjack Add Power to the Cabo Fishing Report
Two skipjack added another dimension to the catch.
Skipjack are compact but extremely powerful fish. Their sustained pulling strength can surprise anglers expecting an easier fight from a smaller offshore species.
Both were released after the fights.
The final species breakdown therefore showed eight dorado kept and two skipjack released.
It was a productive mixture of harvest and release fishing within the same charter.
Dredge Adds Attraction to the Cabo Charter Fishing Spread
Blue Water’s dredge helped increase the underwater profile of the trolling presentation.
The system is designed to imitate a concentration of bait beneath the surface, giving passing pelagic fish a larger visual target before they encounter the primary offerings.
On a day producing 10 fish, keeping an attractive presentation working behind the boat becomes especially important.
Captain Oscar and the crew kept that program operating while Robert and his guests handled the action.
Lunch for three and cold Corona Light added comfort during the full eight-hour charter.
