Brian returned to Blue Sky Cabo with one priority for September 19: marlin. Joined by Hans and Matthew aboard the 35-foot Riviera Blue Water, the repeat customer committed eight hours to pursuing that goal. Captain Oscar concentrated the fishing effort around Los Arcos, where the morning developed into a five-marlin day. Every marlin was successfully released.

Cabo Targeted Fishing Begins With Brian’s Marlin Request

  • There was no uncertainty about what Brian wanted when he returned to fish with Blue Sky Cabo.
  • Marlin were the priority.
  • That gave Captain Oscar a defined objective before Blue Water departed F Dock at 6:00 AM. Instead of approaching the charter as a general search for whatever pelagic species might appear, the crew could organize the eight-hour day around locating billfish.
  • Los Arcos became the focus.
  • Having eight hours available was valuable because targeted fishing requires patience. Fish move with bait and currents, and even productive water can change during the course of a morning.
  • The crew needed enough time to search, observe and react.

Cabo Fishing Near Los Arcos Produces Five Marlin

  • The first marlin confirmed that Blue Water was working an area holding the species Brian had requested.
  • The challenge was turning one opportunity into several.
  • Captain Oscar continued working the Los Arcos zone while the crew maintained the trolling presentation. A complimentary dredge added subsurface movement designed to resemble a concentrated school of baitfish.
  • When another marlin appeared, the crew had to respond immediately.
  • Billfish encounters can develop quickly. A fish may approach the spread aggressively or inspect it before committing. The crew watches its position, adjusts presentations and communicates with the angler as the opportunity develops.
  • Once connected, attention shifts completely to the fight.
  • Brian, Hans and Matthew repeated that process throughout the charter.
  • By the end of the day, five marlin had been caught and five had been released.

Cabo September Fishing Conditions Support Warm-Water Action

September is characterized by some of the warmest offshore water of the Cabo fishing year. Water temperature around this period was approximately 88°F. Morning air temperatures were around 80°F, increasing into the upper 80s as Blue Water worked through the eight-hour charter. The moon was waxing at approximately 61% illumination.

These statistics document the environment surrounding the catch, but successful marlin fishing still depends on what the captain sees on the water.

  • Current direction can reposition bait.
  • Water clarity can change across relatively short distances.
  • Birds may reveal feeding activity.
  • Temperature edges can concentrate marine life.
  • Bait movement can determine where predators appear.

Captain Oscar’s job was to combine those observations with the group’s specific target. On September 19, that process kept Blue Water connected with marlin around Los Arcos.

Cabo Fishing Statistics Tell a Clear Story

Fishing Metric Result Fishing Metric Result
Marlin Caught 5 Marlin Released 5
Anglers 3 Charter Hours 8
Target Species Marlin Target Achieved Yes
Fishing Area Los Arcos Boat Length 35′
Departure 6:00 AM Return 2:00 PM
Dredge Complimentary Release Rate 100%

There was no need for a mixed-species catch to make this charter successful. The guests requested marlin, and the day produced five.

Cabo Marlin Fishing Ends With Five Successful Releases

  • Blue Sky Cabo maintains a standing marlin-release policy, so the final stage of each successful encounter was returning the fish to the Pacific.
  • That is an important part of the experience.
  • The strike, fight and excitement alongside the boat remain with the angler. Photos and video preserve the memory without requiring the marlin to return to the dock.
  • Five marlin releases made conservation a repeated part of this particular charter.
  • It also gave Brian’s return trip a clear identity. This wasn’t simply another offshore fishing day. He returned with a species in mind and dedicated a full eight-hour charter to pursuing it.

Cabo Fishing Gives a Repeat Customer the Day He Wanted

  • At 2:00 PM, Blue Water returned toward Cabo San Lucas Marina after eight hours centered almost entirely on Brian’s original request.
  • Three anglers had worked the Los Arcos area with Captain Oscar. The complimentary dredge had been part of the offshore presentation. Warm September water provided the setting.
  • But the defining number remained five.

Five marlin encountered, five marlin caught and five marlin released. For a repeat customer who specifically asked to target marlin, September 19 demonstrated the value of communicating that goal before departure and allowing the captain enough time to build the charter around it. Brian came back wanting marlin. Los Arcos delivered five!
