September 8, 2023 – 2 Dorado
32′ Luhrs Blue Star | Captain Chewy | 8 Hours Fished
Vanessa and Eric traveled from the Greater Houston, Texas area for an eight-hour charter with Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours aboard the 32′ Luhrs Blue Star. Their full-day trip included lunch for two and the dredge, giving Captain Chewy a long 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM fishing window that ultimately produced two dorado.
For only two anglers aboard, the extended charter offered something especially valuable offshore: time to keep searching.

Extended Cabo Charter Fishing Creates More Search Time
Full-day fishing isn’t always about catching more fish.
Sometimes its greatest advantage is simply having more time to find the right opportunity.
Offshore conditions can change throughout the day. Current edges move, bait concentrations shift and pelagic species can appear after long periods of searching.
Vanessa and Eric had eight hours available.
That allowed Blue Star to remain committed to the fishing program rather than turning toward IGY Marina after only five or six hours.
The final result was two dorado.
Trip highlights:
- Two dorado landed and kept.
- Eight hours available offshore.
- Dredge incorporated into the program.
- Lunch provided for both guests.
Dredge Adds Attraction to the Cabo Fishing Report
Captain Chewy incorporated the dredge into Blue Star’s trolling presentation.
Below the surface, the dredge creates the visual impression of a concentrated school of bait. The objective is to make the entire trolling spread appear larger and more active to passing predators.
That can be particularly useful when searching large stretches of offshore water.
Rather than waiting for fish to encounter individual offerings, the crew can create a larger visual footprint behind the boat.
On September 8, two dorado eventually became the payoff.
Two Dorado Deliver the Cabo Sportfishing Catch
Dorado provided both major fishing moments of the charter.
Their aggressive strikes and fast initial runs can bring a quiet trolling spread to life immediately. Once hooked, dorado are also capable of abrupt direction changes and spectacular aerial displays.
Their colors add another dimension.
Bright green, blue and yellow can appear across the fish as it approaches the boat, making dorado one of the most visually impressive offshore species encountered around Cabo.
Both fish were successfully landed and kept.
For Vanessa and Eric, the two dorado represented two quality game-fish encounters during their full day offshore.
Two-Person Trip Creates a Focused Cabo Fishing Charter
A two-person charter creates a very different experience from fishing with a large group.
There is more individual attention from the crew, more room aboard and fewer anglers sharing each opportunity.
With only Vanessa and Eric fishing, every strike mattered directly to them.
Lunch for two also allowed the pair to remain comfortable throughout the eight-hour day without interrupting Captain Chewy’s fishing program.
Blue Star may be the 32-foot boat in the Blue Sky Cabo fleet, but for two guests it provides a focused sportfishing platform with ample cockpit space and the equipment required for serious offshore fishing.
