Twelve anglers boarded the 60′ Blue Sea Bertram at F Dock on August 3 for a six-hour morning charter. Departing at 6:15 AM, the group headed onto Cabo waters aboard the largest sportfishing yacht in the Blue Sky Cabo fleet. The morning produced one dorado and one skipjack before the scheduled 12:15 PM return.

Cabo Fishing Requires Patience on a Slower Morning
Not every offshore charter produces nonstop action, and this August morning aboard the Blue Sea was a good example of why fishing reports should document the complete experience.
The crew had six hours to search, but the fish did not provide the volume encountered on some summer trips.
Two fish ultimately came to the boat: one dorado and one skipjack.
That doesn’t mean the crew simply waited for something to happen. Offshore fishing requires constant decisions about direction, speed, presentations and whether to remain in an area or continue searching.
A captain can put the boat into promising conditions, but wild fish ultimately determine when they will cooperate.
Dorado Provides the Cabo Fishing Highlight
The dorado was the primary gamefish of the morning.
Summer is an important period for dorado around Cabo San Lucas. These fish can follow warm water, bait concentrations and current movement while also gathering around floating structure.
Crews may watch for birds, weed lines, floating debris, surface disturbances and visible bait while searching.
Finding one dorado can sometimes lead to additional opportunities because the fish may travel in groups. On this particular morning, however, the encounter remained a single-fish event.
That unpredictability is part of offshore sportfishing.
Skipjack Adds a Second Cabo Fishing Species
A skipjack provided the second catch.
Skipjack are fast, powerful members of the tuna family. Their streamlined bodies are designed for speed, and even modest-sized fish can produce strong runs after taking a bait or lure.

Although dorado and skipjack are very different fish, encountering both gave the group two species during the six-hour charter.
No Dredge on This Cabo Fishing Charter
No dredge was used aboard the Blue Sea for this trip.
Dredges can create the visual appearance of a school of bait beneath the trolling spread, but they are only one of many tools available to a sportfishing crew.
Traditional trolling presentations, bait, teasers and the crew’s ability to read the water all contribute to the search.
On August 3, the Blue Sea worked without the additional dredge presentation and produced one dorado and one skipjack.
Twelve Guests Experience the 60′ Blue Sea
With 12 passengers aboard, the 60′ Bertram provided significantly more room than one of the smaller sportfishing boats in the fleet.
Larger groups can spread out between fishing activity while still enjoying a private charter together.
The six-hour schedule also provided a useful amount of offshore time without requiring the group to dedicate an entire day to fishing.
Some Cabo mornings deliver double-digit catches. Others require considerably more searching for fewer opportunities.
This was one of the latter.
By the scheduled 12:15 PM return, the recorded catch stood at one dorado and one skipjack.
The numbers were modest, but they accurately document another genuine day of fishing aboard the Blue Sea—twelve guests, six hours, two species and the uncertainty that makes every offshore trip different.
