Cabo Fishing Report

September 2, 2023 – 1 Dorado

43′ Riviera Blue Sky | Captain Luis | 5 Hours Fished

Paige, Michael, Mark, Matthew, Jamie, Kenneth, Macy, Carter and Carley headed out with Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours aboard the 43′ Riviera Blue Sky for a five-hour family fishing charter on September 2, 2023.

The group included six adults and three younger guests staying at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos. Captain Luis departed F Dock at IGY Marina at 6:00 AM with nine passengers aboard, a dredge in the trolling program and five hours to locate productive water.

The morning produced one dorado before Blue Sky returned to the marina at 11:00 AM.

For a nine-person group, the 43′ Riviera offered something particularly important: space.

A family outing involving adults and younger anglers is different from a two-person offshore trip. Seating, cockpit room, shade and the ability for guests to move around comfortably become important parts of the experience.

That made Blue Sky a natural fit for Paige’s group.

Dredge Presentation Strengthens the Cabo Fishing Report

Captain Luis and the crew incorporated the dredge into the morning’s offshore program.

A dredge creates the visual impression of a concentrated school of bait beneath the trolling spread. Rather than presenting isolated offerings behind the boat, the crew can create a larger underwater target designed to attract the attention of pelagic predators.

The crew continued working through the morning until a dorado provided the group’s primary opportunity.

Once the fish entered the presentation, the atmosphere aboard a family charter can change instantly.

Nine guests suddenly have something to watch.

For younger passengers in particular, seeing a brightly colored dorado near the boat can become one of the most memorable moments of the entire vacation.

Highlights included:

  • One dorado landed during the five-hour morning.
  • The dredge was incorporated into the trolling program.
  • Nine family members shared the 43′ Riviera.
  • The group was staying at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos.

Family Group Finds Cabo Sportfishing Through a Quality Catch

The final fish count was one dorado, but this charter was about considerably more than accumulating numbers.

Paige was joined by Michael, Mark, Matthew, Jamie, Kenneth, Macy, Carter and Carley, creating a large family group spanning adults and younger guests.

That changes how a crew approaches the day.

Experienced crews need to keep serious anglers engaged while also making younger or less experienced passengers comfortable around offshore fishing equipment and an active cockpit.

Captain Luis and the Blue Sky crew had five hours to balance those priorities.

The dorado gave everyone aboard a shared moment.

Dorado are among Cabo’s most recognizable offshore species. Their speed, aerial ability and brilliant coloration make them especially exciting for guests who may be experiencing offshore sportfishing for the first time.

Five Hours of Cabo Fishing Creates a Family Charter

Blue Sky left the marina at 6:00 AM and returned at 11:00 AM, giving the group a full morning experience without committing younger passengers to an eight- or ten-hour offshore day.

That five-hour format can work particularly well for vacationing families.

It provides meaningful fishing time while leaving much of the afternoon available for the resort, pool, beach or other Cabo activities.

The 43′ Riviera also gives larger parties more usable space than a smaller sportfisher.

For this nine-person group, that mattered.

The trip wasn’t simply Paige’s fishing charter. Michael, Mark, Matthew, Jamie, Kenneth, Macy, Carter and Carley were all part of the experience aboard Blue Sky.

Hyatt Ziva Guests Experience Cabo Charter Fishing Together

Staying at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos added another element to the group’s Cabo vacation story.

A resort vacation and a morning offshore can offer two very different views of Los Cabos. One begins poolside or on the beach. The other begins at F Dock before the morning heat builds, with lines being prepared and the boat heading toward open water.

Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours provided the group with a dedicated 43′ Riviera, Captain Luis and crew, and a dredge-equipped fishing program.

The result was a family morning built around one dorado and nine guests experiencing the Pacific environment together.
