Three Species Make This Cabo Fishing Morning Different
The headline number was 12 fish, but the variety made this charter especially interesting.
Dorado dominated with 10 catches, while a wahoo and skipjack added two very different offshore encounters.
For nine anglers sharing a private boat, a multi-species bite keeps everyone interested because the next strike isn’t necessarily going to produce the same fight.
The Blue Sky had only five hours available, making the amount of action particularly notable.
Ten Dorado Drive the Cabo Fishing Action
Dorado were clearly the stars of the morning.
Once productive water was located, the group converted enough opportunities to reach double digits.
Summer dorado can move with bait, favorable currents and floating structure. Crews search for birds, weed lines, debris, bait concentrations and surface disturbances that might indicate activity below.
When one dorado is hooked, the crew remains ready because additional fish can sometimes be traveling nearby.
That possibility can transform the cockpit quickly.
For Zach and the group, the dorado action ultimately produced 10 fish.
With nine anglers aboard, that created plenty of opportunities for different members of the group to get directly involved.
A Wahoo Changes the Cabo Fishing Story
The wahoo gave this report something completely different.
Wahoo are among the fastest and most explosive gamefish encountered around Cabo. Their strikes can be sudden, and the first run can immediately distinguish them from many other offshore species.
Landing one alongside a double-digit dorado catch added significant variety to the trip.
It also meant the anglers experienced two highly prized Cabo gamefish during a single five-hour morning.
Skipjack Adds a Third Cabo Fishing Species
One skipjack completed the three-species catch.
Skipjack are compact members of the tuna family and can deliver powerful fights for their size.
Blue Sky Cabo releases skipjack.
Although it represented only one of the 12 fish, the skipjack broadened the day’s fishing experience and completed a catch that ranged from colorful dorado to a high-speed wahoo and a hard-pulling tuna-family species.
Nine Anglers Share a Productive Cabo Fishing Charter
The 43′ Blue Sky Riviera gave the nine-man group additional space for a busy morning.
That becomes particularly useful when several anglers are participating and multiple fish opportunities develop.
The group was staying at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach, making this fishing trip part of their larger Cabo San Lucas vacation.
Their charter ran from 6:00 AM until 11:00 AM, packing a considerable amount of fishing into five hours.
By the time the Blue Sky returned toward F Dock, the scorecard showed 12 total fish across three species.
Ten dorado provided volume.
One wahoo supplied the speed.
One skipjack added another strong fight.
For Zach, Chris, Sean, Alex, Mike, Justin, Daniel, Niles and Mike from the Northern Virginia/Washington, D.C. area, August 5 delivered exactly the type of mixed offshore action that makes every Cabo fishing day different.
