Craig, Chris, Chase, Devin, Stephen and Chad, a group from the Houston, Texas area, boarded the 32′ Blue Star Luhrs on the afternoon of August 4 for a very special Cabo fishing trip. Craig was getting married two days later, and this four-hour charter was his groomsmen fishing trip before the wedding.

The afternoon delivered exactly the kind of action a celebration trip needed: six dorado for six anglers.

Houston Groomsmen Start Their Cabo Fishing Celebration

This wasn’t an ordinary afternoon charter.

Craig was preparing to get married on August 6, making the August 4 trip an opportunity for the groom and five friends to spend several hours together on Cabo waters before the wedding celebrations began.

The group chose a four-hour afternoon charter aboard the Blue Star, departing at 1:30 PM.

Shorter charters don’t provide the same search window as six-, eight- or ten-hour trips, so productive fishing becomes especially valuable when it develops.

For Craig and his groomsmen, the dorado cooperated.

Six anglers finished with six dorado.

Six Dorado Deliver Cabo Fishing Action

Dorado were the only species needed to make this afternoon memorable.

These colorful offshore gamefish are well suited to a group fishing experience because activity can accelerate rapidly when fish are located.

A dorado entering the spread may not be alone. When one fish strikes, the crew must remain alert for others traveling nearby.

That can create an exciting cockpit very quickly.

For a six-person groomsmen group, multiple dorado opportunities meant different anglers could get directly involved instead of simply watching one person fish.

The final result worked out perfectly: six dorado for six guests.

Afternoon Cabo Fishing Creates a Different Experience

Most Cabo fishing boats leave early in the morning, but afternoon fishing can offer an entirely different rhythm.

Craig’s group didn’t depart until 1:30 PM, allowing them to enjoy the morning before meeting at the marina.

The Blue Star then had four hours to search and fish before the scheduled 5:30 PM return.

Dorado are highly mobile, so the crew still needed to interpret what was happening on the water. Bait concentrations, birds, current movement, floating structure and surface activity can all provide information when searching for these fish.

The afternoon search paid off with six dorado.

Cabo Fishing Before the Wedding

The reason behind this charter made the day different from a typical vacation fishing trip.

Craig wasn’t simply bringing five friends fishing. He was getting married two days later, and Chris, Chase, Devin, Stephen and Chad were joining him for a groomsmen outing before the wedding.

That makes the photographs, stories and memories from a fishing charter part of a much larger Cabo experience.

Pizza was aboard for the group, allowing everyone to eat while enjoying their private afternoon on the water.

The combination of fishing, friends and a wedding celebration gave the charter its own identity.

Four Hours of Cabo Fishing Produce Six Fish

A four-hour charter has a compressed timetable.

There is less room for a long search than on a full-day trip, which makes six dorado a solid result for the afternoon.

By the scheduled 5:30 PM return, Craig and his five groomsmen had put six dorado on the day’s fishing report.

Six anglers.

Six dorado.

Four hours.

And one groom only two days away from his Cabo wedding.

For Craig, Chris, Chase, Devin, Stephen and Chad from the Houston area, August 4 became more than another fishing trip. It was part of the celebration leading into Craig’s wedding weekend and a memorable afternoon aboard the 32′ Blue Star Luhrs.
