Kermit, Cassius, Chase and Eric, visiting from the Los Angeles, California area, started their Cabo morning at F Dock aboard the 35′ Blue Water Riviera. The four anglers had a compact four-hour fishing window from 6:00 AM until 10:00 AM, and Captain Oscar put together a balanced two-species result: two dorado and two skipjack.

Four Hours of Cabo Fishing Produces Two Species

Shorter fishing trips place extra importance on using available time efficiently.

Kermit, Cassius, Chase and Eric departed at 6:00 AM with four hours available before their scheduled return. Unlike an eight-hour charter, there wasn’t an entire day to search through changing areas or wait for a late bite to develop.

The morning still produced four fish.

Two dorado supplied the classic Cabo offshore action, while two skipjack added a noticeably different style of fight.

For four anglers, it created a simple result: four fish during four hours of fishing.

Dorado Bring Color to the Cabo Fishing Morning

Dorado accounted for half of the catch.

These warm-water gamefish are among the most visually distinctive species encountered around Cabo San Lucas. Their colors, speed and surface activity make them exciting fish from the initial strike through the final stages of the fight.

Locating dorado often involves watching for offshore clues.

Bird activity, floating debris, weed lines, bait concentrations and current changes can all provide information about where fish may be holding or feeding.

Once an opportunity develops, crews remain alert because dorado can sometimes travel with additional fish nearby.

For this group, the morning produced two.

Skipjack Add Strength to Cabo Fishing Action

The other two catches were skipjack.

Although they don’t have the bright coloration of dorado, skipjack deliver a very different fight. They are powerful members of the tuna family and can surprise anglers with their strength and persistence.

Blue Sky Cabo releases skipjack.

With two dorado and two skipjack, Kermit, Cassius, Chase and Eric experienced two different types of offshore action during the same short morning trip.

That variety became one of the defining features of this charter.

Early Opportunities Matter During Cabo Fishing Trips

A 6:00 AM departure allowed the Blue Water to begin fishing during the cooler morning hours while still giving the guests a 10:00 AM return.

Four-hour charters can work well for groups that want to experience Cabo sportfishing without committing most of the day.

The tradeoff is time.

If the bite is slow, there are fewer hours available to change direction or extend the search. When fish are encountered, converting those opportunities becomes especially important.

On August 5, the Blue Water finished its four-hour window with four fish recorded.

A Balanced Cabo Fishing Result

Not every successful charter requires a large final number.

This trip stood out for its balance.

Four anglers went fishing for four hours.

They caught four fish.

Two were dorado and two were skipjack.

For Kermit, Cassius, Chase and Eric from the Los Angeles area, the morning offered enough variety to experience two distinct offshore species before returning to F Dock at 10:00 AM.

The result also adds another useful entry to Blue Sky Cabo’s historical fishing record. Some days produce double-digit catches, while others are defined by a handful of opportunities.

August 5 aboard the Blue Water was a concise four-hour trip that delivered a fish for every hour on the water and two different species before breakfast hours were over.
