September 11, 2023 – 2 Dorado, 1 Skipjack
32′ Luhrs Blue Star | Captain Chewy | 5 Hours Booked
Jessica, Ken, Sophia, Lauren and 10-year-old Isaiah headed out with Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours aboard the 32′ Luhrs Blue Star for a family fishing morning. The five-person group—four adults and one child—booked five hours with Captain Chewy, but seasickness brought the charter back early after only a couple of hours. Even with the shortened trip, the group produced two dorado and one skipjack.
For Isaiah, the morning included an especially memorable achievement: the 10-year-old caught the skipjack.

The most impressive statistic was not simply three fish.
It was producing them despite losing a substantial portion of the planned fishing time.
Early Action Drives the Cabo Charter Fishing Morning
Blue Star departed F Dock at 6:00 AM with a scheduled 11:00 AM return.
Offshore fishing, however, does not always follow the original plan.
Seasickness began affecting the group after a couple of hours. Rather than forcing guests to remain offshore when they were uncomfortable, the charter turned back toward Cabo early.
By that point, Captain Chewy and the crew had already put three fish on the day’s record.
Trip highlights:
- Two dorado caught and kept.
- One skipjack caught by 10-year-old Isaiah.
- Five guests aboard.
- Three fish despite an early return.
Young Angler Creates the Cabo Sportfishing Catch Highlight
Isaiah’s skipjack supplied the most personal fishing story of the trip.
Skipjack are powerful fish for their size. They can accelerate quickly and sustain pressure throughout a fight, making them an exciting opponent for any angler—and especially for a 10-year-old.
Isaiah handled the fight and landed his fish.
The skipjack was released afterward.
For a young angler, catching a strong offshore fish can become the moment that turns a family vacation into a lifelong interest in fishing.
Dorado Add Color to the Cabo Fishing Report
The two dorado added quality to the catch.
Dorado are one of Cabo’s most recognizable offshore species because of their combination of speed, aerial displays and brilliant coloration.
Both dorado were kept.
That created a three-fish final record from the shortened morning: two dorado kept and one skipjack released.
Given the limited time actually spent fishing, it was a productive result.
Guest Comfort Matters on a Cabo Charter Fishing Trip
The early return is also an important part of the charter story.
Fishing success matters, but guest comfort matters too.
When seasickness becomes severe enough that guests want to return, the appropriate decision is to head back rather than pressure anyone to remain offshore simply because more charter time is available.
Jessica’s group had booked five hours, but the day changed.
Captain Chewy and the Blue Star crew adapted.
Fortunately, the fishing had already delivered three catches and a memorable moment for Isaiah before the decision was made to return.

Jessica, Ken, Sophia, Lauren and Isaiah may not have completed their planned five hours, but the abbreviated trip still produced three fish.
The lasting highlight belonged to Isaiah: a 10-year-old angler who caught his own Cabo skipjack before Blue Star headed back to F Dock.
