32′ Luhrs Blue Star | 8-Hour Charter

Leon, Lorenzo and Nydea, from the Albuquerque, New Mexico area, returned to Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours on August 27, 2023, for a full eight-hour private fishing charter aboard Blue Star, the 32′ Luhrs. This was more than another day offshore for the returning guests. The charter was planned as a bucket-list fishing experience for Leon’s 72-year-old father, with special attention given to comfort, fishing equipment and time on the water.

The group departed F Dock at IGY Marina at 6:00 AM and returned at 2:00 PM, producing one yellowfin tuna and two skipjack. The charter included the Blue Sky Cabo dredge, requested left-handed fishing gear, and three complimentary lunches for the repeat customers staying at Marina Fiesta Hotel.

Cabo Fishing Charter Built Around a Bucket-List Family Trip

Every fishing charter has a catch record. Some have a much better story behind it.

Leon had previously fished with Blue Sky Cabo and chose to return with Lorenzo and Nydea for another private day offshore. This time, one detail made the trip particularly important: Leon described it as a bucket-list experience for his 72-year-old father.

Before the charter, he was already thinking about how to make the day easier and more enjoyable for his dad. He asked about fishing-chair options and explained that left-handed equipment was preferred.

Those details gave the Blue Sky Cabo team an opportunity to prepare for the actual guests rather than simply preparing a boat.

Age, experience and physical comfort can influence how an angler enjoys a full day offshore. A private charter allows the crew to work around those differences while still delivering a serious fishing program.

For this group, that meant combining an eight-hour offshore search with personalized equipment and service.

Cabo Charter Fishing Strategy With the Blue Sky Dredge

The 32′ Luhrs Blue Star cleared the marina at 6:00 AM, giving the crew eight hours to locate productive late-summer water.

The dredge was part of the day’s fishing program.

A dredge creates the appearance of a concentrated school of bait beneath the surface, adding a substantial visual target behind the boat. When used as part of a trolling program, it can help attract offshore predators toward the spread.

But equipment alone does not locate fish.

The crew still has to interpret the ocean.

Changes in water color, current edges, bait concentrations, feeding birds and surface activity can all influence where a boat spends its fishing time. Conditions can develop or disappear during the course of a morning, which makes the ability to adjust especially important.

An eight-hour Cabo fishing charter provides more flexibility to make those adjustments.

Yellowfin Tuna Fishing Cabo Produces the Main Catch

The principal game fish of the August 27 charter was yellowfin tuna.

Yellowfin are one of Cabo’s most sought-after offshore species because they combine speed, strength and excellent table quality. Once hooked, tuna can maintain pressure for extended periods, making comfortable equipment and good angler technique particularly important.

The offshore search ultimately put Leon’s family onto a yellowfin.

One yellowfin tuna came aboard as the primary keeper of the day.

The group also connected with two skipjack, adding additional action and bringing the final fish count to three.

Blue Sky Cabo normally releases skipjack, while yellowfin tuna can be retained. That made the day’s final result straightforward:

1 yellowfin tuna caught | 2 skipjack caught and released

For a three-person family group spending a full day offshore, the mixed catch added fishing action to a charter that already had considerable personal meaning.

Cabo Fishing Yacht Service Starts Before the Boat Leaves

One of the most important parts of this charter happened before departure.

Blue Sky Cabo knew Leon was a repeat customer.

The team knew the group wanted left-handed fishing equipment.

They knew an older family member would be fishing.

They knew the trip had bucket-list significance.

And they knew the guests had committed to a full eight-hour day.

That information allowed the charter to be approached as an individual experience rather than a standardized fishing excursion.

Blue Sky Cabo also provided three complimentary lunches for the returning customers.

For guests staying at Marina Fiesta Hotel, the marina location made the early-morning transition from hotel to fishing boat especially convenient.

None of those details individually determines whether a tuna bites.

Together, however, they can have a major influence on the quality of the charter.

Eight-Hour Cabo Charter Fishing Provides More Search Time

Fishing time is one of the most valuable tools available to an offshore crew.

A shorter charter can be extremely productive when fish are close to Cabo San Lucas. When productive water moves farther offshore or fish become scattered, additional time gives the crew more options.

Leon selected an eight-hour charter, running from 6:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

That larger fishing window allowed Blue Star to spend more time searching and adjusting instead of operating against an early return deadline.

The additional hours gave the crew greater opportunity to:

  • Investigate changing water and offshore activity.
  • Adjust the dredge and trolling presentation.
  • Stay with productive signs when fish were located.
  • Give each family member time to participate.

For a bucket-list trip involving a 72-year-old father, the longer charter also created a less rushed experience.

The goal was not simply to catch a fish as quickly as possible and head home.

It was to spend the day fishing Cabo together.

Cabo Fishing Charter Experience Aboard the 32′ Luhrs Blue Star

With only three guests aboard, the 32′ Luhrs Blue Star was dedicated completely to Leon, Lorenzo and Nydea.

That private setting matters.

There were no unrelated parties with different fishing priorities and no need to divide the day’s opportunities among separate groups. The crew could concentrate on the family aboard and adjust the fishing experience accordingly.

This was especially valuable given the combination of an older angler, requested left-handed equipment and a full eight-hour charter.

The boat, equipment and dredge provided the platform.

The crew provided the preparation and offshore fishing effort.

The guests provided the reason the day mattered.

By combining those elements, Blue Sky Cabo delivered something broader than the final catch count.

Cabo Report Fishing Value of a Repeat Customer

Repeat customers are one of the strongest measures of confidence in a charter operation.

Leon had already experienced Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours and decided to come back.

For this return trip, he trusted the company with an experience carrying real family significance.

The group traveled from the Albuquerque, New Mexico area, stayed at Marina Fiesta Hotel and committed a full day to fishing Cabo aboard Blue Star.

Blue Sky Cabo responded by preparing around the group’s requests, including the left-handed equipment, dredge fishing program and complimentary lunches.

The final fishing record showed one yellowfin tuna and two skipjack.

But those numbers do not completely explain why the charter mattered.

A returning guest brought his family back to Cabo. A 72-year-old father was able to participate in a bucket-list fishing experience. Three family members spent eight private hours offshore together, and the crew had an opportunity to tailor the day around their needs.

That is the value of a private fishing charter.

Cabo Fishing Charter Creates More Than a Catch Record

At 2:00 PM, Blue Star returned to Cabo San Lucas after eight hours on the water.

The fishing log recorded a yellowfin tuna and two skipjack.

The family carried home considerably more.

For anglers researching Cabo yellowfin tuna fishing, eight-hour Cabo fishing charters, family sportfishing in Cabo San Lucas or private fishing aboard a 32-foot Luhrs, the August 27 charter demonstrates how guest preparation and offshore fishing can work together.

Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours can provide the boat, crew, tackle, dredge program and fishing experience. The Pacific Ocean ultimately determines which fish decide to cooperate.

What Blue Sky Cabo can control is how each group is treated.

On August 27, that meant preparing specifically for three returning guests from the Albuquerque area and recognizing that this particular day had a purpose beyond catching fish.

It was a family bucket-list experience.

And when Blue Star returned to F Dock, that experience also had a yellowfin tuna attached to it.
