Matt, Brittany, Hunter, Jon, Tyler, Joe, Heather, Cameron and Bailey headed offshore on August 7 aboard the 60′ Blue Sea Bertram for an eight-hour Cabo fishing charter. The nine guests had originally fished aboard the Blue Sky the previous day before upgrading to the larger Blue Sea for their second outing. Their decision delivered a memorable result: two blue marlin, both released.

Two Blue Marlin Define a Cabo Fishing Day
Catching one blue marlin can define an offshore trip.
Releasing two during the same eight-hour charter made August 7 a particularly memorable second fishing day for Matt’s group.
Blue marlin are among the most powerful gamefish encountered around Cabo San Lucas. Their size, speed and ability to produce spectacular surface displays place them high on the wish list of visiting offshore anglers.
Once hooked, the priorities shift quickly from attracting the fish to managing the fight correctly.
For the anglers aboard the Blue Sea, that process happened twice.
Both blue marlin were released, consistent with Blue Sky Cabo’s marlin-release policy.
A Dredge Adds to the Cabo Fishing Spread
The Blue Sea fished with a dredge during the eight-hour charter.
A dredge is designed to create the appearance of a concentrated school of bait behind the boat. Rather than representing a single prey item, it produces a larger visual presentation that can help attract the attention of predatory gamefish.
Once a marlin investigates the spread, the crew must be prepared to turn that interest into an opportunity.
That combination of attraction, timing and teamwork is one of the reasons billfishing can be so engaging.
On August 7, the final result was two blue marlin releases.
Nine Guests Upgrade Their Cabo Fishing Experience
This wasn’t the group’s first day on the water.
Matt and the others had fished aboard the 43′ Blue Sky Riviera on Sunday before moving up to the 60′ Blue Sea Bertram for Monday’s eight-hour trip.
The larger Bertram provided considerable room for nine guests during a full day offshore.
Lunch was included, allowing Matt, Brittany, Hunter, Jon, Tyler, Joe, Heather, Cameron and Bailey to remain focused on the fishing throughout the charter.
The Blue Sea departed at 6:15 AM and was scheduled back at 2:15 PM.
That gave Captain Alex and the crew a complete eight-hour window to work Cabo waters.
Responsible Cabo Fishing Continues After the Fight
For Blue Sky Cabo, a marlin encounter doesn’t end when the fish reaches the boat.
Marlin are released.
That means the goal is to enjoy the fight, document the experience responsibly and return the fish to the water.
With two blue marlin encountered during the same trip, release practices became an important part of the day’s story.
Both fish went back.
The final fishing record therefore isn’t simply two blue marlin caught.
It’s two blue marlin released.
A Second Cabo Fishing Day Produces the Highlight
Booking multiple fishing days gives anglers another opportunity to experience how dramatically offshore conditions and encounters can change.
Matt’s group had already been on the water Sunday.
Monday delivered something special.
Two blue marlin.
Two releases.
Nine guests.
Eight hours aboard the 60′ Blue Sea Bertram.
For Matt, Brittany, Hunter, Jon, Tyler, Joe, Heather, Cameron and Bailey, their upgraded second day became a true Cabo billfishing experience and another example of why one fishing day never guarantees what the next day will bring.
