Kasey, Chris and 10-year-old Nicolas headed out from F Dock on August 8 aboard the 32′ Blue Star Luhrs for a five-hour private fishing charter. With a paid fish-attraction dredge working in the spread, the three anglers put together an active two-species morning, finishing with two dorado and six skipjack before returning at 11:00 AM.

Eight Fish Keep This Cabo Fishing Morning Moving
A five-hour charter doesn’t provide unlimited searching time, so eight fish gave this trip a steady amount of action.
Skipjack supplied most of it.
Six of the eight fish were skipjack, while two dorado introduced a completely different type of offshore encounter.
For a group of only three anglers, that meant multiple opportunities during a relatively compact morning.
It was also a family fishing experience, with 10-year-old Nicolas joining Kasey and Chris aboard the Blue Star.
Dorado Add Color to Cabo Fishing Action
The two dorado brought one of Cabo’s signature summer species into the mix.
Dorado are immediately recognizable when their brilliant colors appear near the boat. Their speed, sudden direction changes and tendency to fight near the surface can make them particularly exciting for younger anglers watching the action.
Finding dorado often involves reading offshore signs rather than simply running to a fixed location.
Birds, weed lines, floating material, bait concentrations and current edges can all provide useful clues.
On August 8, the search produced two dorado.
Six Skipjack Bring Strength to Cabo Fishing
Skipjack accounted for 75% of the day’s catch.
These members of the tuna family may be smaller than some of Cabo’s trophy species, but they can deliver strong fights for their size.
That made them well suited to keeping the anglers involved throughout the morning.
Blue Sky Cabo releases skipjack.
Six skipjack therefore represented six opportunities to experience a hard-pulling offshore fish before returning it to the water.
Combined with the two dorado, the morning produced eight fish across two species.
Dredge Fishing Adds Another Tool to the Search
The Blue Star also carried a paid dredge for this charter.
A dredge is designed to create the appearance of multiple baitfish moving together behind the boat. This larger visual presentation can help attract the attention of predatory gamefish and bring them toward the trolling spread.
It doesn’t guarantee a bite.
Instead, it gives the crew another tool for attracting fish while searching productive water.
For Kasey, Chris and Nicolas, the dredge was part of a morning that ultimately generated eight catches during five hours.
A Young Angler Joins the Cabo Fishing Experience
Nicolas was 10 years old when he joined this charter.
Introducing a child to offshore fishing can change the entire character of a trip. The experience isn’t simply about the final catch total; it is also about seeing new species, watching the crew work and feeling what happens when an offshore fish takes the line.
With six skipjack and two dorado recorded, there was plenty for Nicolas to see during his morning aboard the Blue Star.
The private charter also allowed the three guests to experience the trip together without sharing the boat with another party.
Five Hours of Productive Cabo Fishing
The Blue Star left F Dock at 6:00 AM and returned at 11:00 AM.
In between, Kasey, Chris and Nicolas recorded eight total fish.
Two dorado provided color and surface excitement.
Six skipjack supplied repeated hard-fighting action.
For three anglers—including a 10-year-old—this August 8 charter delivered an active five-hour introduction to the variety available in Cabo waters.
